What to have ready when calling a restoration company
Describe the situation
Have the property city, property type, when you first noticed the problem and which rooms appear affected. Tell the company what you know and what you are unsure about. Do not enter an unsafe area to gather information.
Explain access and availability
Tell the company who can authorize access, when someone can meet the crew and any access restrictions. Confirm the response window directly rather than relying on a directory listing.
Prepare your questions
Ask about the first visit, assessment fees, written authorization, documentation, likely next steps and your contact person. A phone conversation is not a written scope or final price.
Keep a simple record
Record whom you contacted and what they agreed to do. If you already have safe-to-access photos or documents, ask how the contractor wants to receive them. This directory does not collect claim files or homeowner damage photographs.
